거의 1년을 채워가는 넥서스원을 대신할 녀석을 구매했다.
I just have replaced my cell phone Nexus One which i had used for almost a year with a new one.
Sony Ericsson의 Xperia 중 x12. 즉 Arc로 불리는 이 녀석이다.
The new phone is Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.
Arc 라는 이름에서 알 수 있듯 이 녀석은 디자인이 좀 남다르다.
As you can see from it's name "Arc", it has some what different outlook from other phones
마치 활처럼 휘어있는 것이 그 특징이다.
It arched like a bow.
이 녀석은 굉장히 Exmor라는 기술과 함께 굉장한 카메라를 가지고 있다.
this one is even more distinguishable from others with its own imaging technology called Exmor from Sony Ericsson.
동시에 무척 가볍고, 또한 얇다.
it is also designed very thin and light.
비록 초기에는 wifi와 터치, 그리고 배터리에 문제가 제기됐었지만 최근의 업데이트에서 상당 부분 해결되었다.
Although there had been problems of its wifi function, touch screen error and battery consumption reported from early users, they are resolved mostly by the latest update.
하지만 아직도 문제는 존재한다. 그건 바로 Sony 및 Sony Ericsson 제품들에서 보여지는 수 많은 제조사 전용 프로그램들의 강제적 설치이다. 이것들은 여러가지 측면에서 이 휴대폰의 효율성을 떨어뜨린다.
However, there is a fundamental problem still remaining. That is the countless number of programs installed compulsorily on products of Sony and Sony Ericsson. These programs must be made on a purpose of making light users more convenient to use the phone, but it actually drops product's efficiency greatly.
사용자는 강제적으로 설치된 프로그램들을 삭제할 수 없으며, 그 때문에 제품의 제한된 저장 공간의 용량을 낭비하게된다. 또한 잘 쓰이지 않는 많은 프로그램이 항상 상주하고 있기 때문에, 배터리 또한 급격하게 소진된다.
Users are not allowed to remove those compulsorily installed programs, and it makes the limited storage even smaller. These programs also consume unnecessary memory and battery additionally.
그래서 많은 사용자들은 강제적으로 관리자 권한을 취득하여 그것들을 제거한다.
Because of that, many users gain super user right on the device and remove the programs.
하지만 그것은 그것대로 전문가 수준의 지식이 필요하며, 기계를 고장낼 수 있는 큰 위험을 동반한다.
But this decision of users requires a professional level of knowledge of programming, and it contains huge risks of breaking the device in the case of absence of the knowledge.
제조사들은 이런 소비자의 선택에 "A/S 불가"라는 책임전가 식의 조치를 취하기 보다, 소비자에게 다양한 옵션을 제공함으로써 더 큰 선택의 폭과 만족을 제공해야할 것이다.
Manufacturers should provide more options on the programs for better service instead of declaring void warranty for users' decision of removing the programs in such a risky way.
